Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State men'strack and field hosted the first event of the NSIC Indoor Championship Sunday night and Monday morning at Meyers Fieldhouse. The heptathlon, consisting of 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and the 1000-meter run, was the first official event for the contest which will be concluded Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.
Jack Curtis, a sophomore from Lombard Illinois, finished the event in fifth place with a point total of 4866 which earned the Mavericks four team points which will be attributed to their total in the NSIC Indoor Championship. Freshman Logan Bristol, a Mankato native, finished the event in sixth place with 4736 points and added three more team points. Calvin Buesgens also competed for the Mavericks and finished ninth in the event with a score of 4651 points.
The Minnesota State men's track and field team will be attending the Snowshoe Open in Minneapolis, Minn. Friday, February 17th before returning to Mankato for the remainder of the NSIC Indoor Championship.
