Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey scored three third-period goals to earn a 3-1 come-from-behind win and a Western Collegiate Hockey Association Series split with St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon at Verizon Center.
With Minnesota State (2-5-1, 1-3-0-0 WCHA) trailing 1-0 in the third period, sophomore forward
Demi Gardner tied the game at the 9:48 mark with her first goal of the season. Junior forward
Jordan McLaughlin scored the eventual game-winning goal – her third of the season – at 12:57 to put the Mavericks up 2-1, and senior forward
Hannah Davidson capped off the scoring with her first of the season at 17:11.
Minnesota State and St. Cloud State (2-6-0, 1-3-0-0 WCHA) played a scoreless first period with the Huskies holding an 8-6 edge in shots on goal at the first intermission.
St. Cloud State took a 1-0 lead in the second period when
Julia Tylke scored at 18:56.

Emma Turbyville assisted on the play.
Trailing entering the third period, Gardner, McLaughlin and Davidson scored their goals to secure the Mavericks' comeback victory.

Sophomore
Chloe Crosby (1-1-1) made 21 saves in net for the Mavericks and
Emma Polusny (1-3-0) stopped 22 shots for the Huskies.
Minnesota State finished 0-of-2 on the power play and St. Cloud State was 0-of-1.
The Mavericks held a 25-22 edge in shots on goal.
It is the first Minnesota State win over St. Cloud State since the 2014-15 season when the Mavericks won 5-1 on Feb. 2, 2015 in Mankato, Minn.
Minnesota State concludes its eight-game homestand with a two-game WCHA series against Minnesota on Friday at 7:07 p.m., and on Saturday at 3:07 p.m., at
Verizon Center.
