St. Peter, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team had several athletes compete today in the Drake Alternative.
The high jump was dominated by the Mavericks with three athletes in the top-four. Placing first was freshman
Jeff DeCockwith a leap of 6'07''. Coming in second was
Frank Veldmanalso at 6'07''.
Logan Bristolplaced fourth (6'01.25''). The triple jump also had a Maverick take first place.
London Thurman took home the crown with a mark of 46'03.50''.
In the shot throw,
Bryan Caffin, placed second with a mark of 49'03.50''.Right behind him in third was
Dustin Gill (45'03.50'').
Caffin also placed third in the hammer throw (166'00'').
Sam Udermann placed fourth (163'03'').
Udermann would place third in the discus throw with a toss of 137'00''.
The Mavericks had some success in the track events as well.
Senior
Brendan Gessner won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.00. Placing fourth was senior
Alexander Schoneberger (2:00.12). Placing third in the 1500-meter run was freshman
Caleb Burke in a personal best time of 4:08.26. Fellow freshman
Steven Erredge was right behind in fourth (4:08.64).
The 110-meter hurdles final had
Logan Bristolplace third in 16.17. Also placing third in the 400-meter hurdles was
Kevin Martinson in a personal best time of 56.42.

The Maverick multi-event student-athletes will get their chance to shine at the NSIC Multi Championships beginning tomorrow right here in Mankato, with the rest of the team returning to action Wednesday at the MSU Twilight.
