Des Moines, Iowa --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team made the trek south to compete in the annual Drake Relays.

The first day of the relays started out with the 4x200-meter relay team of Briana Holt, Karlona Gregory, Gabi Gaines, and Mackenzie Beals shattering the school record that was set last year at the Drake Relays by 2 seconds. Their time of 1:38.71 put them in third place. The 4x100-meter relay team of Gaines, Afure Adah, Ariel Thomas, and Beals placed tenth with a time of 47.53.

Running yesterday in the 800-meter run and placing seventh in a career best outdoor time was Haley Kruger. This is the 12^th fastest time in division II.

On the field side of things freshman Khadiya Hollingsworth place 12^th in the high jump with a mark of 5'6''.

The Mavericks will return to the track tomorrow morning in Des Moines, as well as competing in the Drake Alternate, held in St. Peter, Minn.
