Des Moines, Iowa --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team made the trek south to compete in the annual Drake Relays.
The first day of the relays started out with the 4x200-meter relay team of
Briana Holt,
Karlona Gregory,
Gabi Gaines, and
Mackenzie Beals shattering the school record that was set last year at the Drake Relays by 2 seconds. Their time of 1:38.71 put them in third place. The 4x100-meter relay team of
Gaines,
Afure Adah,
Ariel Thomas, and
Beals placed tenth with a time of 47.53.
Running yesterday in the 800-meter run and placing seventh in a career best outdoor time was
Haley Kruger. This is the 12
th fastest time in division II.
On the field side of things freshman
Khadiya Hollingsworth place 12
th in the high jump with a mark of 5'6''.

The Mavericks will return to the track tomorrow morning in Des Moines, as well as competing in the Drake Alternate, held in St. Peter, Minn.
