MINNETONKA, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team saw its season come to an end Saturday evening as it fell to the MSU Moorhead Dragons by the score of 5-2 in the first round of the NSIC Tournament.
With the loss, the Mavericks finish their season with a 9-9 record, while the Dragons improve to 9-6. MSU Moorhead will now take on Augustana in the second round of the NSIC Tournament on Sunday.
The Mavericks began the dual winning two of the doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead.

Erin Streeter defeated Jade Goodyear-Anderson and Maria Moral Carretero in the No. 1 doubles match by the score of 8-3. Senior
Sarah McCann and sophomore
Killian Doran earned an 8-4 win over Jessamy Jones and Ashley Wood in the No. 2 doubles match as well. Morgan Smith and Ricquel Ramsbottom bested junior
Abby Schmidt and sophomore
Lisa Dobbelaere by the score of 8-1 in the third doubles match.
The Dragons were then able to rally in the singles matches as they won four to claim the 5-2 victory.
Mashburn fell to Jones in the No. 1 singles match 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, while Streeter lost to Goodyear-Anderson 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match. Smith was able to best McCann 7-5, 6-1 in the fourth singles match, before Wood closed out the dual for the Dragons in the fifth singles match as she defeated Dobbelaere 6-3, 6-4.
The No. 3 singles match between Doran and Carretero, along with the sixth singles match between junior
Katie Salinda and Ramsbottom, went unfinished.
