MOORHEAD, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team had a close road conference dual Saturday evening, but the MSU Moorhead Dragons were able to come away with the 6-3 win.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 4-4, including a 3-3 NSIC record. With the win, the Dragons improve to 5-2, including a 4-2 conference record.
The Mavericks began the day winning one of the three doubles matches. The duo of junior
Melissa Mashburn and freshman
Erin Streeter defeated Jade Goodyear-Anderson and Maria Moral Carretero in the No. 1 doubles match by the score of 8-5.
In the singles matches the Dragons were able to gain four victories to lock down a 6-3 win. Streeter and sophomore
Killian Doran each won their singles matches, while junior
Lisa Dobbelaere fell in a deciding third set.
Streeter defeated Goodyear-Anderson in the No. 2 singles match by the scores of 6-2, 6-1, while Doran bested Carretero in the third singles match by the scores of 6-3, 6-4. Dobbelaere lost to Morgan Smith in the fourth singles match by the scores of 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
The Mavericks continue conference action in Moorhead, Minn., Sunday as they take on the University of Mary at 9:00 a.m.
