MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field time returned to action for the first time this year in the MSU Alumni Open.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore
Karlona Gregory took home first with a time of 7.91 with junior
Ariel Thomas following in second at 7.91.
Gabi Gaines (7.93) and
Bri Holt (7.97) rounded out the top five for the Mavericks.
In the 200-meters, it was
Afure Adah leading the charge in first place, marking a time of 25.19. Fellow Mavericks Gregory (26.12),
Autumn Santos, and
Jasmyne Suber (26.98) finished third, fifth, and seventh, respectively. Senior
Brooke Foreman placed third with a time of 8.93 in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Mavericks occupied the third, fourth, and fifth spots in the 400-meters with
Kimmy Wreh (1:00.08),
Stacy Smidt (1:00.23), and
Amelia Kjos (1:00.83).
MSU continued to do work by sweeping the top three spots in the 600-meter run. Freshmen
Bobbi Patrick led the way with a time of 1:37.22. She was followed by
Haley Kruger (1:37.38) and
Megan Allen (1:37.97).
Freshmen
Megan Serratore won the title in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:19.62. Rounding out the top five for the Mavs were
Allyson Daines in third place (5:39.48),
Erica Hauf (5:39.71), and
Mariah Betzler (5:45.67). The Mavericks continued their dominance in the 3000-meter run by taking the top four spots. Leading the charge was
Samantha Soupir with a time of 10:59.93. Coming in second, third, and fourth were
Josie Bratten (11:11.09),
Lily Paul (11:18.68), and
Mackenzie Dockendorf (11:30.89).
MSU ended their meet by dominating the 4x400-meter relay. The three MSU teams entered in the race took the top three spots. The first place finishing team consisted of
Mackenzie Beals, Kruger, Patrick, and Wreh. Their winning time was 4:00.68.
The Mavericks saw continued success on the field side of the day as well. Senior
Kayla Lindell placed second in the high jump at 5'3.75".
Khadiya Hollingsworth (5'03.75''),
Brianna Ziolkowski (5'00.50''), and
Eden Rodgers (4'10.50'') placed third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. In the pole vault
Faryn Wirkus placed third with a vault of 12'01.50''.
Grady Keding and
Tessa Voss vaulted their way to fifth and sixth.
Ariel Thomas finished fourth in the triple jump (36'04.75'') and sixth in the long jump (16'07.25'').
The events rounded out with freshmen
Sarah Kalkhoff finishing eighth in the shot put. Kalkhoff and junior
Emma Edelen finished sixth and seventh in the weight throw.
The Mavericks will travel to the University of Minnesota to participate in the Northwest Open on Saturday, January 17.
