MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team participated in day one of the two day MSU Open and Multi and featured a pair of first place finishes.
Freshman
Steven Erredge (Des Moines, Iowa) accomplished a personal best in the 3000-meter run and placed third with a time of 9:03.31.
Junior
Bryan Caffin(Hudson, Wis.) came in third-place in the weight throw a toss of 55'03.''. Coming in fourth for the Mavericks was freshman
Sam Udermann(Foley, Minn.) with a toss of 52'10.75''.
Today also marked the start of the first heptathlon event on the young season. Junior
Ben Ojika (New Brighton, Minn.) currently sits in fourth-place after four events featuring a 60-meter dash time of 7.59, long jump mark of 20'09", shot put toss of 34'10.5" and a high jump score of 6'04.25". Teammates
Jack Curtis and
Anyah Nutter (San Deigo, Cal.) are right behind him in fifth and sixth-place, respectively.
