MANKATO, Minn.--- Â Â No. 6 Minnesota State charged out of the gates Sunday afternoon scoring in the first minute of play and didn't look back.

Right off the bat in the opening minute of the match senior forward
Korey Kronforst (Cary, Ill.) jumped out to a breakaway that was passed up by sophomore defenseman
Sydney Hedrick (Ankeny, Iowa). Kronforst blasted the ball past the Bronchos goal keeper Elle Stover, to notch her second marker of the season and give the Mavericks a 1-0 head start. After eight and a half minutes later, junior midfielder
Kiana Nickel (Wayzata, Minn.) took a pass from junior defenseman
Emily Erickson (Woodbury, Minn.), and booted it past a diving Stover to score her first goal of the season. With four minutes and 38 seconds remaining in the half, two lightning delays were called. After the lightning delays, the remainder of the half was played, followed by a two-minute intermission.

Entering the second half the Mavericks held a 9-4 advantage in shots. Senior goal keeper
Lauren Hoeppner (Lakeville, Minn.) needed to only make one save through the first 45 minutes of action.

In the second half of the contest, MSU kept their momentum rolling with Kronforst scoring her second goal of the match on a breakaway that was passed up by senior forward
Jessica Bowe (Anoka, Minn.) in the 57th minute. Just 13 minutes later, Nickel tacked on her second tally of the game that was also assisted by Bowe, and the second assist coming from Kronforst to up the Mavericks led 4-0 with 17:03 remaining in the match. Freshman forward
Morgan Cottew (Minneapolis, Minn.) got into the mix as well, netting the first goal of her career as a Maverick, and the last of the game in the 83rd minute.Â

All in all, Minnesota State held an advantage in all offensive categories including shots (18-14), shots on goal (12-9), and in corner attempts (3-2). Kronforst led the Mavericks with four shots.

Hoeppner played all 90 minutes of the match totaling nine saves respectively. Hoeppner now owns a 2-0-0 record on the season.

The Mavericks with continue action this next weekend as they travel to St. Paul to take on the Golden Bears of Concordia- St. Paul on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and head to Allendale, Mich. to take on top-rated Grand Valley State University on Sunday. Minnesota State is slated to play the No. 1 Lakers at 12 p.m.
