Mavericks Kick Off National Championships

Allendale, Mich. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team began the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships this afternoon and saw great performances guide the day.

Seniors Emmanuel Matadi (St. Paul, Minn.) and Kyran Stewart (Camilla, Ga.) both qualified for Saturday's final in the 100-meter dash finishing with times of 10.24 and 10.47, respectively. Matadi and Stewart, along with Richard Wilhite, Jr. (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Anthony Gustafson (Faribault, Minn.) will also go for points on Saturday in the 4x100 relay after posting a time of 40.46.

Senior Nathan Hancock (Independence, Mo.) is halfway through his final decathlon performance and currently sits 14th with 2,238 points.

The championships will continue tomorrow morning in Allendale, Mich.
