Hancock will make his fourth trip to the National Championships

Men's Track and Field

Four Mavericks Bound for Division II Championships

Mankato, Minn. --- With the conference championships complete, a few select members of the Minnesota State men's track and field program switch their attention towards the national championships.

Senior Nathan Hancock (Independence, Mo.) is no stranger to the national stage as his ticket punched gives him trips to the championships during all four of his indoor seasons. Last season, Hancock returned to Mankato with a second-place finish and all-american honors to his name. He will enter the heptathlon event as the tenth-rated participant in the country.

Also making a return trip to nationals is sophomore Myles Hunter (Conyers, Ga.). Last year, Hunter just missed the final round by .01 seconds, and looks to change that this year. Hunter has been nothing short of spectacular this season breaking not only school-records, but national records in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.64. He is the number one seeded running going into the championships.

Making his first trip to the Division II Championships is senior Emmanuel Matadi (St. Paul, Minn.). Previously, he made consecutive trips to the NJCAA Indoor Championships while running for Butler County Community College. Matadi enters the championships as the top-seeded individual in the 60-meter dash after posting a school-record of 6.66 a few weeks back in Brookings, S.D. He will also take part in the 200-meters as the second-seeded runner with a season-best of 21.10.

Joining Matadi in the 200-meters will be junior Kyran Stewart (Camilla, Ga.). Stewart goes into Birmingham as the seventh-seed with a seed time of 21.37.

The championships are set to commence March 14-15, in Birmingham, Ala.
