ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team claimed its fourth victory of the season Friday evening as it defeated the University of Mary by the score of 6-3.
With the win, MSU now owns a 4-2 overall and conference record. With the loss, U-Mary falls to 1-5 on the season and in NSIC play.
Minnesota State began the day winning two of the three doubles matches. Freshman
Killian Doran and junior
Sarah McCann posted an 8-2 win the No. 1 doubles match, while the team of sophomore
Melissa Mashburn and freshman
Destiny Lee won the No. 2 doubles match by the score of 8-5.
The Mavericks finished the day winning four of the singles matches to secure the 6-3 win. Two of MSU's singles victories came in straight sets as Doran won the first singles match 6-1, 6-2, while Lee secured the No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Mashburn won the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 2-6, 10-8, while freshman
Lisa Dobbelaere took home the fifth singles match by the scores of 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.
The Mavericks continue conference action on Saturday as they take on MSU Moorhead in St. Louis Park, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
