Minneapolis, Minn. --- With less than a week before the conference championships, the MSU women's track and field team split up the squad to get everyone prepared.
The majority of the team traveled to the Parent's Day Open in Minneapolis and returned with eight top-ten finishes.
Senior Sid'Reshia Floyd (New Hope, Minn.) started the day off finishing second in the 60-meter dash with a final time of 7.89. Maddi Sjelin (St. Michael, Minn.) grabbed a second-place finish of her own in the 800-meters at 2:17.73. Halee Peterson (Cloquet, Minn.) garnered fourth in the 3000-meters running it in 3:02.78.
The Mavericks had continued success on the field side as well. Bryanna Sudman (Eden Prairie, Minn) and Faryn Wirkus (Edgar, Wis.) went seventh and eighth in the pole vault with Sudman leading at 11'10.5". Emma Edelen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) grabbed third-place in the weight throw with a toss of 47'6.5" and followed that with a fifth-place finish in the shot put at 34'9.5". Sarah Knutson (Eagan, Minn.) joining her in the top-ten in the shot at seventh with a throw of 33'2.5".
Trekking southwest, a few Mavericks also participated at the University of South Dakota Twilight meet.
Brooke Foreman (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Kellie Wong (Ankeny, Iowa) went three and four in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 9.05 and 9.16, respectively. Kimmy Wreh (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) took home seventh in the 400-meters with a final time of 1:00.63. Teammate Amelia Kjos (River Fall, Wis.)finished right behind in eighth at 1:00.89.

Beginning Thursday, February 26th, Minnesota is set to host the NSIC Conference Championships, in Myers Field House.
