MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team will head into the open events with 14 points already to their name.
The NSIC Multi Championships wrapped up Monday afternoon with senior Nathan Hancock (Independence, Mo.) finishing in second-place and teammate Ben Ojika (New Brighton, Minn.) right behind in third.
Hancock began the day off with a time of 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdle event. He followed that up with a high mark in the pole vault of 12'7.5". In the last leg of the heptathlon, Hancock cruised to a final time of 2:42.33 for the 1000-meters. He ended the championship with 5,131 points, just 20 points behind first-place.
Building off of Hancock's success, teammate Ojika commenced his second day events with a final time of 8.62 in the 60-meter hurdles. Following that, he ended the pole vault with a high of 10'11.75". In the last event of the meet, he ran the 1000-meters in 3:04.19. He ended up with 4,696 points, which marks as a provisional qualifying standard.

The Mavericks next action will take place this weekend, as they travel back to Minneapolis to take part in the Snowshoe Open.
