MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State had a two goal lead early in the first period, but Bemidji State responded with four unanswered goals to defeat the Mavericks 4-3 Saturday afternoon at All Seasons Arena.

Minnesota State's record falls to 3-27-1 overall and 1-23-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play while the Beavers improve to 18-13-1 and 13-12-1 in the WCHA.

The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead at 6:53 of the opening period after freshmen Amanda Conway and Elin Johansson skated in on a two on one break and Johansson one-timed one past BSU netminder Brittni Mowat for her third goal of the year. At the 10:02 mark the Mavericks increased their lead to 2-0 as senior Kathleen Rogan found freshman Nicole Schammel on the left side and she was able to wrist it in for her team-leading tenth score of the season. With less than one minute left in the period the Beavers cut the Mavericks lead as Summer Thibodeau scored at the 19:24 mark.

The second period belonged to Bemiji State with the Beavers scoring three goals in the period. After Johansson was sent to the box for tripping, BSU took advantage on the power play to even up the score at two. Stephanie Anderson and Miller scored later in the period, with the goals coming 15 seconds apart to head into the second intermisison with a 4-2 lead.

In the final period freshman Anna Keys cut into the Beaver's lead at 15:09 with her third goal of the season to bring the score to 4-3, but the Mavericks were unable to finish the comeback.

Rogan recorded two assists to move up to fourth place on the all-time career scoring list. She also becomes the fourth player to record 80 or more points in her career.

Senior Erin Krichiver stopped 38 shots on the night as BSU outshot MSU 42-25. The Mavericks did not have any power plays in the afternoon while the Beavers went 1-5 with the extra skater advantage.

Minnesota State will have a quick turn around this week. The Mavericks will travel to St. Cloud to take on the Huskies on Monday night. The opening faceoff is slated for 7:07 p.m.
