Mavericks Fall to Gophers Friday in Mankato.

Mankato, Minn..  --- Minnesota State could not get on track offensively in dropping a 4-0 nonconference contest to Minnesota at Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato Friday night.

The Mavericks held a 13-5 shots on goal advantage in the first period, but the Gophers took a 1-0 lead at 18:33 on a Justin Kloos wrist shot that beat junior goaltender Cole Huggins from the high slot. It became a 2-0 Minnesota lead at 7:08 of the second after Taylor Cammarata connected on a shot while drifting through the slot from 25 feet out.

Vinni Lettieri jumped on a rebound and his blast found the back of the net at 1:49 of the third period to give the Gophers a 3-0 advantage. Leon Bristedt made a strong move to the net off the right boards before tucking the puck between Huggins' pads at 12:56 to close out the scoring in the game.

The Mavericks went zero-for-five in power play chances on the night (the Gophers were zero-for-three) and junior Cole Huggins was credited with 21 saves for Minnesota State in the contest in bringing his record to 3-6-0 for the year. The Mavericks owned a 31-25 shots on goal advantage in the game.
A sell-out crowd of 5,156 was in attendance at Verizon Wireless Center, the ninth-largest crowd ever to watch a Minnesota State men's hockey game at Verizon Wireless Center.
