Mavericks Head to Florida for Rebel Spring Games

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State softball team continues its 2014 season as it travels to Winter Haven, Fla., to take part in the Rebel Spring Games. MSU will compete in a total of 12 games against 10 different opponents.

Our Last Outing: Minnesota State opened its season with a 2-4 showing at the UAM 8-State classic, including wins against Pittsburg State (6-4) and East Central University (4-3).

Seniors Samantha Holien and Kelly Wood currently lead MSU with .500 batting averages, with Holien leading the Mavericks with a total of seven runs driven in. Senior Lindsay Erickson leads MSU with two home runs, to go along with a team-high .941 slugging percentage.

In the circle, both freshman Coley Ries and junior Brittany Lauterbach each posted one win at the UAM 8-State Classic. Ries has struck out 11 batters in 14.1 innings pitched, while Lauterbach has fanned 14 batters in 19.2 innings pitched.

About Wayne State (Mich.): The Wayne State Warriors enter the weekend the owners of a 9-1 record. Wayne State is currently riding a six-game winning streak, including wins against Upper Iowa (4-1) and Winona State (1-0).

Emily Bryce and Jade McGarr lead the Warriors with six RBI. Bryce and Logan White lead  Wayne State with 11 hits each.

Lyndsay Butler leads the Warriors in the circle this season with a 5-0 record, including a 0.19 ERA. Butler has allowed just one earned run in 36.2 innings pitched, while striking out 49 batters. Briana Lee boasts a 4-0 record, to go along with a 0.45 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched.

About Ohio Dominican: The Ohio Dominican Panthers enter the weekend the owners of a 1-7 record on the season. The Panthers have lost their last five games, having given up at least four runs in each game.

Kelsey Albanese and Taylor Thomas lead the team with three RBI each.

Rachel Stanzel owns a 0-3 record in the circle, and has given up 19 earned runs in 22.1 innings of work through four appearances.

About LIU Post: LIU post opens its 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games. Last season, the Pioneers posted a 47-15 record as they advanced to the NCAA East Regional Tournament.

Alexis Gonzalez returns to the Pioneers this season after leading the team with 13 home runs and 56 runs batted in. Aly Dzierzynski also returns this season after posting 10 home runs and 50 RBI a season ago.

Liz Weber returns to the Pioneers this season after posting a 24-7 record in the circle. Through 201.1 innings pitched last season, Weber maintained a 2.02 ERA, while striking out 216 batters.

About Ferris State: The Ferris State Bulldogs will open their 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games. Last season, FSU finished its 2013 season with a 29-16 record as it advanced to the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Amy Dunleavy returns this season for the Bulldogs after leading the team with eight home runs and 39 RBI in the 2013 season.  Dunleavy also posted an 8-4 record in the circle for the Bulldogs last season. Alyssa Smith also returns after posting a team-high .341 batting average with 42 hits.

About Hillsdale: Hillsdale opens its 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games. Last season, the Chargers finished with a 12-21 record.

Sarah Grunert returns to Hillsdale after leading the team with a .404 batting average. Ainsley Ellison also returns for the Chargers after scoring a team-high 18 runs last season.

Katie Ardrey returns to the circle for Hillsdale this season, after posting a 2.82 ERA, to go along with a 5-10 record.

About Glenville State: The Glenville State Pioneers will begin their 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games. Last season, Glenville State finished with a 27-17 record.

Kaylrigh Huck returns after leading the Pioneers with 37 RBI last season.

Brittany May also returns for GSU after finishing the 2013 season with a 10-6 record, while maintaining a 2.86 ERA.

About Lees-McRae: The Lees-McRae Bobcats head into the Rebel Spring Games with a 3-14 record. The Bobcats are currently on a four game losing streak.

Sadie Lagle leads Lees-McRae with a .422 batting average, to go along with a team-high six RBI.

The Bobcats have three players with one win in the circle this season, including Charlie Dutton, who owns a 1-7 record, to go along with a 7.91 ERA.

About Southern Indiana: The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles currently own a 4-1 record.

MacKenzi Dorsam leads the Screaming Eagle with four runs driven in, while Janna Green has tallied a team-high seven hits, to go along with a .412 batting average.

Brooke Harmening owns a 2-1 record in the circle for Southern Indiana, to go along with a 2.95 ERA.

About Adelphi: Adlephi will open its 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games. Last season, the Panthers finished with a 41-19 record as they advanced to the NCAA East Super Regional.

Victoria Wink returns this season after leading the Panther offense with nine home runs and 57 runs batted in.

About Indianapolis: The Indianapolis Hounds own a 4-4 record on the season.

Alexas Alfaro leads the team with eight runs batted in, while Casey Williams boasts a team-high .500 batting average.

Morgan Foley owns a 2-3 record on the season, to go along with a 3.41 ERA, through 29 inning this season.
