MANKATO, Minn. --- Five Minnesota State softball players have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the field and in the classroom this past season.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. They also have to have at least a 3.50 GPA. Eligible nominees must also compete in at least 90% of the team's games or start in at least 66% of the team's games. Pitchers must have at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. The Academic All-American Teams will be announced on June 16.
An infielder from Le Sueur, Minn.,
Chole Brandt played and started in all 55 games for the Mavericks, primarily at shortstop. She batted .320on the season with 48 hits and a team-leading 42 runs scored. She also led the team in stolen bases with 11 and coaxed a team-leading 24 walks. Brandt is majoring in elementary education and owns a 3.77 GPA.
An outfielder from Harris, Minn.,
Maddie Helin was one of two Mavericks to play and start in all 55 games for Minnesota State this past season. Helin batted .365 with 54 hits, 13 doubles and four home runs. She also drove in 32 runs and finished second on the team in runs scored with 38. Earlier this season, she was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Helin is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and owns a 3.69 GPA.

Izzy Hycnar played and started in 49 games for the Mavericks, primarily at third base. Hycnar batted .327 with six home runs and 29 RBI. She also recorded 50 hits and scored 25 runs. Hycnar owns a 3.62 GPA and is majoring in aviation.
A pitcher from Urbandale, Iowa,
Maddie Oetzmann made 32 appearances in the circle for the Mavericks this past season, including 25 starts. She put together a 16-6 record to go with a 3.33 ERA and 142 strikeouts. Oetzmann threw 15 complete games, including three shutouts and was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Oetzmann owns a 3.92 GPA and is majoring in applied health science.
A sophomore from Stacy, Minn.,
Hannah Tong played in 50 games for the Mavericks this past season, including 47 starts, primarily as the designated hitter. Tong batted .390 on the season as she led the team in hits with 57. She also recorded 15 doubles and a team-leading 10 home runs, to go along with 43 runs batted in and a .452 on-base %. Tong was named to the All-NSIC Second Team and is majoring in applied health sciences. She owns a 3.56 GPA.
