Mankato, Minn.---The Minnesota State women's track and field team hosted the Ted Nelson Classic on Saturday. Junior
Morgan Stampley had her best performance yet in the weight throw this season.
Stampley finished in first place and had a throw of 59', surpassing her own school record by nearly two feet. She currently stands second in the NSIC and is ranked 10th in all of NCAA Division II throwers. Senior
Anna Ryan had a career day in the weight throw as well as she had a throw of 46' 1.50" placing fourth.
Junior
Bryanna Sudman had a career day in the pole vault as she vaulted 12' 6.25". That places her second in the NSIC and sixth on the NCAA Division II list. Sophomore
Faryn Wirkus placed fourth with a vault of 12' 0.50".
MSU had the top three finishers in the 60-meter dash as sophomore
Holly Suss led the Mavericks with a time of 7.80. Sophomore
Rachel Lindquist finished just behind her with a time of 7.94 and senior
Zevin Carter rounded out the top three with a time of 7.95.
In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles Carter had the top time upping her provisional-qualifying time to 8.88. That time currently puts her fourth overall in the NSIC. Junior
Jenni Vanttinen finished in second place with a time of 8.95. In the 200-meter dash
Alexis Dickens career-best time of 26.37 finishing in second-place while sophomore
Mackenzie Beals finished third crossing the finish line with a time of 26.39.
Fellow freshman
Taylor Naatz and
Taylor Glover each had a career-best time in the 400-meter
dash as they finished in fourth place (59.68) and fifth place (1:00.16) respectively. Freshman
Maddi Sjellin provisionally qualified in the 800-meter run finishing in first place with a time of 2:15.94. That time in the 800 places her second in the NSIC.
The Purple and Gold took the top four spots in the 5,000-meter run. Sophomore
Samantha Soupir led the Mavericks finishing with a career-best time of 18:26.42. Freshman
Emily Knapczyk finished in second place (18:45.74), junior
Stephanie Steenhoek placed third (19:41.03), and junior
Kimberly Allan placed fourth (19.48.09). Junior
Marina Paul placed first and senior
Sarah Bowler finished third in the 3,000-meter run with times of 11:03.31 and 11.24.21 respectively.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Vanttinen, sophomore
Alex Hartman, junior
Bonnie Pickford, and senior
Annie Dahl placed finished in first place with a time of 3:56.89.

The Mavericks will return to action next weekend as they host the MSU Open on Saturday followed by the NSIC Multi which will take place Sunday and Monday.
