Box Score WINONA, Minn. --- #25 Minnesota State used a balanced effort as it downed Winona State 77-53, as a total of nine different athletes found their way into the scoring column.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 12-5 overall with a mark of 9-4 in NSIC action, while the Warriors fall to 8-9 overall and 4-9 on the circuit.
The Mavericks raced out to an early 17-5 lead before the Warriors mounted a 9-1 run, cutting the Maverick lead to 18-14 with 5:57 remaining in the opening frame. The Mavericks finished the half on a 16-5 run, sparked by freshman

MSU had solid contributions from its bench, as the bench poured in 18 first half points and 15 rebounds, helping the Mavericks own a 25-18 advantage on the glass. The Purple and Gold were also able to record four blocks in the first half and forced seven Warrior turnovers.
Delzotto led the team in scoring in the first 20 minutes scoring seven points, while junior
Lexie Ulfers (Waseca, Minn.) added five points, six rebounds and a block in the first half. Collectively, MSU connected on 44% of its shots from the field, 39% from deep and 50% from the charity stripe. The Warriors shot 29% from the field, 13% from behind the arc and 40% from the charity stripe in the first half.
The Mavericks pushed their lead to 20, holding a 46-26 lead four minutes into the second half. WSU cut the MSU lead to 14 at 55-41 before the Mavericks were able to heat up from behind the arc to end any Warrior hopes of a comeback.
Winona State was able to cool down the Mavericks in the second half, as it held MSU to a 42% field goal showing in the frame, including a 33% mark from behind the arc, but the Mavericks posted 40 second half points en route to a 33-53 victory.
Senior
Ali Wilkinson (Blue Mounds, Wis.) paced the Mavericks with 14 points, while
Alli Hoefer (Plymouth, Minn.) contributed 12 points including a 60% effort (3-5) from behind the arc. Ulfers finished with nine points and a team-high six rebounds, while Delzotto poured in nine points.
Collectively, the Mavericks connected on 43% (28-65) of their shots from the field, 33% (8-24) from behind the arc and 65% (13-20) from the charity stripe. MSU held a 43-36 advantage in the rebounds column and held the Warriors to just two three point field goals.
MSU completes its two game road trip as it travels to Fayette, Iowa to do battle with Upper Iowa University, opening tip is slated for 4 p.m.
