Klanderman Accepts Position at North Dakota State

MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman has accepted a position as a member of the North Dakota State coaching staff.

Klanderman, who just finished his 12th season as a member of the MSU coaching staff, will serve as NDSU's defensive backs coach.

During the last seven seasons, Klanderman has served as Minnesota State's defensive coordinator. During the last three seasons, a total of 37 Maverick defenders were named to the All-NSIC South Division teams. This past season 10 Mavericks received NSIC South Division All-Conference Defensive Team honors.

As a player, Klanderman played four seasons for the Mavericks from 1997-2001. He served as a starter on the defensive line for three seasons. He was named to the Academic All-NCC Team and received Verizon District V Academic All-Region honors in 2001.

Klanderman completed his bachelor's degree in social studies in 2001 at MSU and later finished his master's degree in sports administration in 2004. He was also a Maverick Achievement Award recipient.

The Mavericks finished their 2013 season with an 11-1 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
