MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State swimming and diving team fell to Northern Michigan 162-81 in dual action Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, MSU falls to 2-1 on the season in dual competition.
MSU freshman
Shelby Sechena won MSU's lone event of the day, claiming the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:16.35. She also took second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a time of 10:44.48.
Junior
Emily Green took second place in a pair of events including the 50-yard freestyle (25.02) and the 100-yard backstroke. Freshman
Nicole Bean took third place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.81.
Junior
Tessa Cady claimed second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.60, while junior Ivanna Smirnova followed close behind in third place with a time of 2:03.63. Smirnova also took second place in the 100-yard butterfly event with a time of 1:01.17.
Sophomore
Emilie Berg took third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.87, while senior
Rachel Rubatt finished third in the 100-yard butterfly event with a time of 1:03.88.
Junior
Melissa Runquist finished second in the one-meter diving event with a score of 194.50, and third in the three-meter diving event with a score of 211.25.
The MSU 200-yard medley team of Green, Berg, Smirnova and senior
Nora Stauber finished second with a time of 1:53.59, while the 200-yard freestyle team of Bean, Sechena and sophomores
Samantha Rasmussen and
Jade Ely took third with a time of 1:44:04.
The Mavericks return to action Friday as they take part in the two-day Stevens Point Invite in Stevens Point, Wis.
