Adam Thielen
Mankato, Minn.  ---   Minnesota State senior receiver Adam Thielen was one of 218 college football players to be invited to the Super Regional Combine held at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Tex., April 7 and 8.

An invitation-only event, the Super Regional Combine serves as a supplement to the National Football League’s National Scouting Combine for athletes to show NFL scouts what they can do on the football field as teams prepare for the annual draft which this year is slated for April 25-27. A total of 30 of the league's teams were represented at the Super Regional Combine.

“That’s what I have been working for," said the Detroit Lakes, Minn., native. "It was my goal to get there, so I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to show what I got in front of scouts. It was a pretty good combine and a lot of scouts showed up so I tried to take advantage of that opportunity.”

After performing at a high level at the regional combine in Chicago on Mar. 10, Thielen was given the opportunity to show what he can do down in Texas.

“I had to go to the regional combine in Chicago. There were eight different regionals and from there 200 guys were selected to go down there (to Dallas),” Thielen said.

According to nflregionalcombines.com, in 2012, more than 25% of the athletes participating in the Super Regional Combine earned NFL contracts.

“I learned to never give up and keep working hard. I was given a special opportunity and I learned to take advantage of every opportunity,” Thielen said.

A two-time team captain, Thielen helped lead the Mavericks to a 13-1 record and to the NCAA Division II semifinals as a senior.  Named 2012 First Team All-NSIC South Division & Daktronics All-Region Second Team, Thielen led
MSU in catches (74), yards (1,176), receiving touchdowns (8), yards per game (84.0) and was second in yards per catch (15.9).
