Box Score Bowling Green, Ohio --- Minnesota State built a 2-0 first-period advantage, but could not sustain the lead, eventually falling 4-3 in overtime to Bowling Green in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game played in Bowling Green Friday.

Matt Leitner, got his second goal of the year when he wired a shot from the slot past BGSU's Tommy Burke at 10:33 of the first period to open the scoring. Then at 13:55, junior forward
Jean-Paul Lafontaine redirected a shot from the point by senior
Zach Lehrke past Burke with the Mavericks on the power play and MSU headed into the first intermission owning a 2-0 advantage.
Capitilizing on a five-minute power play following a checking-from-behind penalty to Chase Grant, Adam Berkle scored just :16 seconds into the second period to cut MSU's lead to one goal. Mark Cooper tied the game at 6:47 and after two periods of play the score stood 2-2.
BGSU got its first lead at 5:16 of the third period on a shorthanded goal from Berkle and it remained 3-2 BGSU until freshman forward
Zach Stepan scored on a bad angle at 11:37 for his second goal of the season to tie the game and that's the way it ended following three periods of action.
The game looked like it might end that way, but Cooper gained control of the puck in the corner before walking out and lifting a shot over the shoulder of freshman netminder

The Falcons, who went one-of-four on the power play, owned at 22-21 advantage in shots on goal. Minnesota State, which has lost its last three games, converted on one-of-four power plays.
With the victory BGSU ups its record to 6-4-3 overall, 4-2-1 WCHA. The Mavericks drop to 4-7-0, 2-3-0 WCHA.
The two teams conclude the two-game WCHA series Saturday at the BGSU Ice Arena.
