Mavericks Resume WCHA Action With BGSU Trek

On Tap:    Minnesota State (4-6-0 overall, 2-2-0 WCHA), which dropped a pair of games at #1 Minnesota last weekend (4-1 and 3-0 losses), resume Western Collegiate Hockey Association action this Friday and Saturday with road games at Bowling Green. MSU and BGSU play at BGSU Ice Arena (5,000) Friday (7:07 p.m.) and Saturday (7:07 p.m.) EST.

About the MSU-BGSU Series:  The Mavericks, who split a conference home series with the Falcons earlier this season (4-3 loss, 1-0 overtime win), stand 4-1-1 all-time vs. BGSU.

MSU Most Recently:  The Mavericks fell twice at #1 Minnesota last weekend in their most-recent action.  MSU dropped 4-1 and 3-0 decisions to the Gophers in Minneapolis last Friday and Saturday.

About the Falcons:  Bowling Green is coming off a weekend in which it earned a 3-3 tie and then lost 4-2 to #10 Ferris State in a couple of WCHA contests played in Big Rapids, Mich. The Falcons enter this weekend with an overall record of 5-4-3 and stand 3-2-1 in WCHA games.

BGSU is paced offensively by junior forward Dan DeSalvo (3-9--12 in 12 games) and senior forward Bryce Williamson (6-5--11 in 12 games). Sophomore Tommy Burke (3-0-3, 2.24, .912) and freshman Tomas Sholl (2-4-0, .910, 2.17) have split the goaltending duties.

Head coach Chris Bergeron (Miami '93) is in his fourth year as a college head coach and owns a 44-877-17 career mark.

MSU All-Time:  The Minnesota State men's hockey program, begun in 1969-70, completed its 44th year of competition last year.  

MSU is in its 17th year as a member of NCAA Division I (first DI season was 1997-98) and the Mavericks are in their 15th season as members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Mavericks sport an all-time record of 764-591-134 (.557).
