MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State puts its four-game winning streak on the line this week with a doubleheader Wednesday at home against Wayne State before traveling to play St. Cloud State this weekend for a Saturday/Sunday doubleheader.
A Look at the Wildcats: The Wayne State College Wildcats own an 18-10 overall record and a 9-5 Intercollegiate Conference record as they are on a five-game winning streak after taking the last game of a doubleheader against Augustana before sweeping Minnesota Duluth last weekend. Coached by Brian Disch, the Wildcats are led at the plate by Travis Parsons who owns a .409 batting average while leading the team with 38 hits including nine doubles, a triple and four home runs. He is second on the team with 24 RBI while also slugging .656 with a .500 on-base percentage. Two other Wildcats are batting over .300 including Mike Bisenius who hitting at a .362 clip and Jake Ritzdorf who owns a .355 average. Bisenius leads the team with five home runs and 29 RBI while Ritzdorf has added two home runs and 22 RBI. Austen Wisroth leads the Wildcats pitching staff as he holds a 4-1 record while starting six games for WSC. Wisroth owns a 2.25 earned run average while leading the team with 32 strikeouts in 36.0 innings of work. Tadd Johansen leads the Wildcats with seven starts and owns a 4-4 record on the hill while he is second on the team with 24 strikeouts in 38.0 innings pitched.
A Look at the Huskies: The St. Cloud State Huskies, owners of a 22-7 overall record (7-3 NSIC), have won seven of their last nine games and will play a doubleheader Wednesday at Bemidji State before hosting the Mavericks. Coached by Pat Dolan, the Huskies have four players batting over .300 as Phil Imholte leads the way with a .379 batting average. Imholte leads the Huskies with 36 hits and 28 runs scored while he has also added 18 RBI. Brian Hansen is second on the team with a .351 batting average while he is second on the team with 22 RBI. The team leader with nine doubles is Garrett Fischer who owns a .348 batting average while also driving in 12 runs. The fourth Huskie batting over .300 is Eric Loxtercamp who's hitting at a .327 clip with both 20 RBI and 20 runs scored. The St. Cloud State pitching staff is led by Scott Lieser who owns a 6-2 record with a 1.66 ERA in 10 appearances. Lieser is second on the team with 32 strikeouts and has allowed just eight earned runs in 43.1 innings pitched. The team leader with a 1.30 ERA is Shawn Riesgraf who is 4-0 on the hill in nine appearances while recording 26 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched. Logging the second-most innings pitched for St. Cloud State has been Logan Birr who owns a 5-0 record in nine appearances while holding a 2.61 ERA in 41.1 innings of work.
Last Weekend: Minnesota State split with Concordia in a midweek doubleheader before sweeping the University of Mary over the weekend to improve to 21-5 overall and 9-1 in the NSIC. The Mavericks outscored U-Mary, 38-8 in the four-game series as Minnesota State has won eight of its last 10 games. Four Mavericks earned wins on the hill last week including sophomore

Nick Sutherland earned his first win of the season improving to 1-0 while sophomore

Connor McCallum started three games for MSU while batting .625 after collecting five hits in eight at-bats. He also hit a home run, a double, and scored five runs while earning four walks as he had a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage. Freshman
Nolan Johnson collected a team-high 10 hits in 22 at-bats as he earned a .455 batting average and a .500 on-base percentage. Kincaid was second on the team with a .533 batting average after collecting eight hits while also driving in four runs and scoring three of his own. Senior
Jeremy Sudbeck finished the week with eight hits and a .444 batting average while also tying the team-lead with six RBI.
