Box Score 2 Mankato, Minn.— The thirteenth-ranked Minnesota State (29-6, 9-1 NSIC) softball team extended its winning streak to nine games on Sunday when it swept Minnesota, Crookston 5-0 and 8-0 at the Diamond at Gage Towers in Mankato.

Kendra Huettl guided the Mavericks as she threw a complete game one-hitter while the Mavericks outhit the Golden Eagles 9-1.
The score remained scoreless until the fourth inning when the Mavericks pulled a squeeze after senior outfielder

The Mavericks then scored four runs in the sixth inning off of five hits. Sophomore catcher

Brittani Robinson hit a three-run blast over the left field wall. Junior infielder
Abby Sonner doubled before being brought home when freshman designated player
Chelsea Riordan hit an RBI single to move MSU to the 5-0 victory.
Huettl went the distance as she threw her sixth complete game of the season for her 12
th win in 2012. Huettl gave up just one hit and struck out 11 in the 23 batters faced.
Game two lasted just five innings as MSU put the mercy rule on UMC. The Mavericks marked 11 hits in the game to the Golden Eagles’ seven. Minnesota State senior outfielder
Melanie Upchurch highlighted the game going 3-for-3 at the plate and scoring three runs.

The Mavericks scored four runs in the third inning off four hits. Upchurch, Umhoefer and Lindsay Erickson strung three hits in a row with Upchurch crossing the dish on Erickson’s single. Umhoefer then scored after a passed ball. Chelsea Erickson was hit by a pitch before Sonner singled up the middle to bring in the Erickson’s for her 18
th and 19
th RBI of the season.
Minnesota State used five hits in the fourth inning to help guide three runs in the inning. Upchurch led off with a line drive home run to right center for her first long ball of the season. Umhoefer singled but was thrown out at the plate after Lindsay Erickson ripped her 12
th double of the season. Lindsay Erickson scored after Chelsea Erickson delivered a single to center field. Robinson reached first after the Golden Eagle third baseman bobbled a ball. Sonner marked her second hit of the game to score Chelsea Erickson to cap off the 8-0 win.

Courtney McKelvogue went four innings from the circle, striking out six batters. Freshman pitcher
Brittany Lauterbach registered the final three outs of the game for the Mavericks.
The thirteenth-ranked Mavericks return to action on Tuesday as they hit the road to face #23 Augustana for an NSIC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
