Lindsay Erickson, paced the Maverick offense going 5-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI on the day.
In the first game, MSU used three long balls to secure the 5-3 win over WSC, including the game-winning blast in the seventh inning by MSU junior shortstop
Abby Sonner. Minnesota State outhit Wayne State 8-7 in the game.

Lauryn Morris took advantage of an error on the Wildcat first baseman before she stole second base. Senior
Chelsea Erickson ripped an infield single to knock Morris in, giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
Chelsea Erickson used her sixth home run of the season to put MSU up 2-0 in the top of the fourth.
With runners on second and third, Wayne State generated a run on a throwing error by Minnesota State in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Lindsay Erickson belted her fifth home run of the season in the top of the sixth to give the Mavericks their two run cushion back. The Wildcats fought back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three.
In the top of the seventh, Minnesota State’s Sonner broke the tie and hit the go ahead home run.

Courtney McKelvogue earned the win after she entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, going one and two-third innings. Senior pitcher

The Mavericks opened game two with a three-hit, two-run first inning. Morris doubled as
Lindsay Erickson singled down the line for her 20
th RBI of the season. Erickson proceeded to score after Wood singled up the middle and the centerfielder made a throwing error.
WSC’s Aeriell Earleywine led off the bottom of the first with a walk and scored after she was sacrificed to second and scored on a double for the Wildcats lone run of the inning.
Lindsay Erickson struck again in the third inning, hitting her second home run of the day. Erickson’s two-run home run came after Upchurch was hit by a pitch, giving MSU a 4-1 lead.

Brittani Robinson and Sonner loaded the bases up before senior infielder
Amanda Umhoefer tallied an RBI walk. Upchurch then singled to bring in Robinson to give MSU a 6-1 lead.
The Wildcats produced two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run.
The Mavericks captured two more runs in the seventh when Robinson knocked in Chelsea Erickson on a single down the left field line. Then, Sonner reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Wood.
McKelvogue pitched six innings for her 11

MSU (25-6) opens it home schedule on Saturday as it hosts MSU Moorhead for an NSIC doubleheader at 1 p.m.
