Bemidji, Minn.— Minnesota State head coach Lori Meyer earned her 900
th and 901
st career wins at Minnesota State with a sweep over Bemidji State. The thirteenth-ranked Mavericks used a 12-0, five-inning win and a 8-0 win on the road to close out the opening NSIC weekend.
MSU junior pitcher
Courtney McKelvogue threw the third no-hitter of the season for Minnesota State. McKelvogue becomes the third Maverick pitcher of the season to accomplish the feat. McKelvogue struck out five as she faced 17 batters in the first game.
Before the Beavers even had an at bat, MSU had an 11 run cushion after it used eight hits and two BSU errors to give it 11 runs after the top of the first inning.

Back at the top of the order, the Mavericks kept the two-out rally going in the top of the first inning. Upchurch and Morris both got on the base paths before
Lindsay Erickson singled to score Upchurch.
Chelsea Erickson used a three-run blast for her fifth home run of the season to cap off the 11 run inning.
MSU added a run in the second as the freshmen combo,
Brittani Robinson and Riordan, both singled. Robinson scored after a fielding error by the Beaver third baseman for the final run scored in the game.
In game two of the doubleheader, Minnesota State outhit Bemidji State 15-3.
The Mavericks opened the second game up with a pair of runs in the first inning. Upchurch doubled and crossed the dish on a RBI groundout before Chelsea Erickson walked, stole second and then took third and home on wild pitches.
MSU kept it rolling in the second inning after Riordan and Upchurch singled and scored as Morris and
Lindsay Erickson knocked them in with RBI singles to put MSU up 4-0.
In the fourth inning, the Mavericks scored one run after Upchurch and Morris each bunted their way on. Upchurch scored after BSU made and error of the bat of Lindsay Erickson.
Upchurch tallied her fourth hit of the game when she had an infield hit. Morris singled that was followed by a Lindsay Erickson RBI single. Wood hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Morris for the seventh Maverick run of the game.
MSU’s Riordan scored the final run of game after she singled and crossed the dish after a Redd double in the seventh inning.
The Mavericks used three pitchers in the win as senior
Kendra Huettl earned the win going four innings, giving up just one hit. Sophomore
Kristen Fah went two and a third innings before freshman
Brittany Lauterbach recorded the final two outs.
Minnesota State (23-6, 3-1 NSIC) continues its NSIC road schedule as it travels to Wayne, Neb., to take on Wayne State for a doubleheader Wednesday that scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
