Minnesota State History: The 2011-12 season marks the 90th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men’s basketball. The Mavericks are 1,184-830 (.589) in 2,014 games since the program’s inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. A Little Bit About Southwest Minnesota State: The Mustangs enter this weekend's games owners of a 6-6 record and are 5-3 in the NSIC, which is tied for fifth-place with Augustana.
SMSU, winners of four of its last six games, is averaging 73.5 points per game while giving up 73.4. As a team, SMSU is shooting 47.4 percent from the floor and 77.1 percent from the line while hauling in 32.2 rebounds per game and giving up 32.2 rebounds per contest.
Individually, junior guard Jordan Miller leads the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while sophomore guard Matt Zager is averaging 10.5 points and shooting a team-best 56.7 percent from the floor.
