Box Score WINONA, Minn. – Minnesota State dropped its third consecutive game Friday night falling to the Winona State Warriors, 67-55.
Minnesota State was unable to comeback from its ten-point deficit in the first-half as Winona State was led by three players who reached double figures. Despite shooting 50.0 percent from the field in the second half, MSU was never able to cut the lead to single digits in the second half.
The Mavericks seemed to have found some momentum when they cut the lead to ten after a three pointer by sophomore guard

Laura Weber making the score, 56-46. However, WSU put a halt to the Mavericks quick run as Michelle McDonald made good on a three-point play extending the Warriors lead back to 13.
From here, WSU remained in control and secured its seventh Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory (12-8, 7-7 NSIC).
Winona State’s shot from long range was the difference in the first half as it connected on 7-of-16 (43.8 3FG%) from downtown. Marieanna Dulas led the charge for the Warriors scoring all nine of her first-half points on 3-of-6 shooting from three-point range.
The Mavericks trailed by as much as 17 in the first half as the Warriors went on a 13-0 run expanding the lead to 26-9. However, MSU was able to cut the lead to ten at the break as senior guard
Jennie Noreen and junior guard
Sarah Wiens connected on late three-pointers.
MSU saw two players reach double digits including Weber who finished with 15 on 7-of-13 from the field and freshman guard
Jamie Bresnahan who added 11 points and a team-best nine rebounds.
Winona State shot 42.4 percent in the game as Dulas, Alberson and Becca Friestleban each contributed double-digit efforts. The Warriors also outrebounded the Mavericks, 37-29, and connected on ten three pointers compared to five by MSU.
MSU finished the game 43.8 percent from the floor but was plagued by turnovers, committing 17 compared to 13 by WSU.
Minnesota State (12-6, 8-6 NSIC) closes out the month of January tomorrow when it travels to Fayette, Iowa to face Upper Iowa University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
