Box Score Columbus, Ohio — Minnesota State lost to Ohio State 3-1 Friday night in Columbus, Ohio in the opening game of the two-game series.
After the Mavericks were outshot 11-6 in the first period, they headed to the locker room knotted up at 0-0 as MSU goaltender
Danielle Butters made 11 saves in the period.
Late in the second period the Buckeyes broke the shutout at the 14:18 mark as Tina Hollowell to put OSU up 1-0. The Buckeyes went up 2-0 four minutes and 20 seconds later at the 18:38 mark of the second period on Ally Tarr goal, marking her 13
th goal of the season.

Tracy McCann scored her third goal of the season from
Erika Magnusson to bring the Mavericks within one goal at 8:55 of the second period.
Even though MSU outshot the OSU 12-9 in the third, the Buckeyes found the back of the net with 1:23 left in the game. The final shots in the game were 36-27 in favor of Ohio State.
Minnesota State (7-18-0, 3-16-0 WCHA) and Ohio State (4-17-2, 3-14-0 WCHA) continue action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. (CST) at the OSU Ice Rink for the final game in the series.
