Mankato, Minn. --- The game stood tied at the end of regulation, but Minnesota State could not hold off Nebraska Omaha’s power play in overtime as the visiting Mavericks claimed a 2-1 victory in a men’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest played in Mankato Friday night.

Lafontaine’s goal, his 12
th of the season, sent the game into overtime.

Bryce Aneloski scored the final goal on a power play when his shot from the point found its way through a maze of legs and sticks at 1:37 for the game-winning goal.

Ryan Massa was injured in overtime during a collision with a MSU player and freshman
Dayn Belfour, who stopped one MSU shot in 54 seconds of action, was credited with the win.
With the loss Minnesota State dropped to 7-17-1, 3-13-1 WCHA on the season. The Mavericks will look to even the two-game league series tomorrow night with a 7:07p.m. face-off scheduled for Verizon Wireless Center.
