Minnesota State to Play Next Nine Contests on the Road

On Tap: Minnesota State, 12-6 overall, 5-3 in the NSIC, will hit the road for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference twinbill at Concordia University Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., then travel to Duluth, Minn. for a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday with Minnesota Duluth, both of which are slated to start at 12:00 p.m.

A Look at the Golden Bears:
The Concordia University Golden Bears currently own a 6-3 overall mark, with this week's twinbill being CU's first conference action...In Concordia's last action, the Golden Bears swept Hamline University in a nonconference doubleheader...Junior Bryan Lippincott leads the Golden Bears with a team-best .488 batting average and a team-high 20 hits...Senior Jon Stockton sits second on the team with a .452 batting average, and has hit a team-high seven doubles, while both Stockton and Lippincott have racked up 14 RBI, which is tied for a team-best...On the mound, sophomore pitcher Andy Fagely leads the Golden Bears, with a 2-1 record, 2.37 ERA, three games started and a team-high 17 strikeouts.

A Look at the Bulldogs: The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs currently own a 6-10 overall mark, and are 2-2 in the NSIC...In UMD'S last action, the Bulldogs split a four game series with Upper Iowa...Junior Marcus Riewer leads the Bulldogs with a .364 batting average and team-high 20 hits...Junior Anders Engberg has also produced impressive numbers with a .326 batting average, 15 hits, a team-high 11 runs scored and team-best 12 RBI...On the mound, senior pitcher Josh Foreman leads the Bulldogs with a 2-1 record, 2.50 ERA, three games started and 11 strikeouts.

Last Week: The Mavericks played host to the eight-rated St. Cloud State Huskies Friday and Saturday, splitting with SCSU in the opening doublheader (W, 7-6 & L, 11-4), then getting swept on Saturday (L, 3-0 & L, 12-2)...The Last time the Minnesota State baseball team lost three of four games in a conference home series prior to this weekend was in 2008 when Nebraska Omaha accomplished the feat...Before that was in 2003 when Nebraska Omaha won all four games vs. MSU in Mankato...Junior  infielder Pat Dockendorf led the team with a .571 batting average, going 8-for-14 at the plate, including two double and his fourth homer of the season...Dockendorf also scored a team-high four runs and had two RBI...Another successful Maverick at the plate was junior infielder Matt Kuchenbecker who went 6-for-11 with a team-high six RBI and one run scored...Kuchenbecker also walked twice, and hit two sacrifice flies...Senior pitcher Danny Miller was the only MSU pitcher to earn a win on the weekend, improving his record to 4-1, while junior Blake Schwartz, junior Ben Kincaid and senior Luke Putz all suffering losses...Sophomore closer Mahlon Zimmerman picked up save number four on the year in Saturday's first contest.

Leading the Way: Senior infielder Zach Rowles leads the Mavericks in hits this season with 23, while junior infielder Pat Dockendorf owns 21, which ranks second on the team...Senior outfielder/pitcher Danny Miller and Rowles are the only two Mavericks to have played in and started all 20 games this season...Junior infielder Matt Kuchenbecker leads the Mavericks in batting average (.375)...Kuchenbecker and junior outfielder/pitcher Ben Kincaid have each hit a team-best five doubles, Miller leads the team in triples, having tagged three on the year, a team-high...Dockendorf has hit a team-best four home runs on the year...Junior right-handed pitcher Blake Schwartz leads MSU on the mound with a 4-1 mark, a team-best 1.98 ERA and 22 (ranks second on the team) while Miller (4-1) holds a team-high 35 strikeouts.
