Mavericks Travel to St. Cloud to Battle Huskies in WCHA-Action

Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State (7-20-3 overall, 6-17-1-0 WCHA) travels to St. Cloud, Minn. for MSU’s final WCHA road-series with the St. Cloud State Huskies (0-28-1 overall, 0-23-1-1 WCHA) this weekend. The Mavericks and Huskies meets at the National Hockey Center, Friday at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday at 2:07 p.m.

Maverick v. Huskie History:
- The Minnesota State Mavericks are owners of a 24-22-5 overall record against St. Cloud State with its most recent victories coming earlier this season when MSU swept the Huskies at All Seasons Arena. MSU defeated the Huskies by a score of 4-1 on 11/5/10, then defeated the Huskies 4-2 the next afternoon.
- Minnesota State was led by senior forward Nina Tikkinen who finished the series with five points (1-4--5).
- Freshman forward Kathleen Rogan also had a sucessful couple of outings against the Huskies, scoring a goal and assisting on two.
- Tikkinen (2-8--10) and junior forward Emmi Leinonen (3-7--10) each own 10 points all time against the Huskies, and junior forward Moira O’Connor (3-2--5) and junior defenseman Ariel Mackley (3-2--5) has each tallied five points against SCSU.
- Minnesota State earned its first-ever playoff game win against SCSU, later earning its first playoff series win at the end of the 2008-09 season.

A Look at the Huskies: 
- The St. Cloud State Huskies own a 0-28-1 overall record with a 0-23-1-1 mark in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and sit eighth in the league standings.
- Last time SCSU played,it was swept by Minnesota on the road, with scores of 0-8 on 2/4 and 1-4 on 2/5.
- They have recorded 24 goals to their opponents 143 goals...St. Cloud State has scored three goals in the first period, 10 in the second and 11 in the third.
- SCSU has tallied 626 shots to its opponents 1,133 shots.
- The Huskies are 7/118 (.059) on the power play, while their opponents are 46/140 (.329).
- St. Cloud State has 10 skaters that have had at least one goal and have had 20 skaters that have had at least one point this season.
- SCSU is led by freshman forward Julia Gilbert (5-3--8), freshman forward Molli Mott (4-4--8), sophomore forward Alex Nelson (2-3--5) and freshman forward Sydney Burghardt (0-5--5).
- Junior forward Brittany Toor and Gilbert each own a team-high two power play goals.
- Nelson leads the team in penalties minutes with 15 for 41 minutes.
- St. Cloud State is led in net by senior Ashley Nixon who owns a team-best 0-24-1 record, a 5.02 G.A.A., a .876 save percentage and 808 saves.
- The Huskies are coached by Jeff Giesen who is in his fifth season as the leader of the St. Cloud State’s program...Owner of a 60-93-25  record while coaching the Huskies.
