Mavericks Face #19 Tigers in Last Regular-Season Road Trip

On Tap:    Minnesota State (12-12-6 overall, 6-12-3 WCHA) continues conference action with a pair of league road games vs. Colorado College (16-13-1 overall, 10-10-0 WCHA) this weekend.  The Mavericks and the Tigers square-off at Colorado Springs World Arena (7,343) Friday (7:37 p.m. MST) and Saturday (7:07 p.m. MST).

About the Series:    In a series that dates back to 1997-98, Colorado College owns a 28-13-1 advantage over MSU.  The teams split a pair of decisions in Mankato back in October, with MSU claiming a 5-4 win Oct. 22 before CC rebounded for a 1-0 victory the next night.

MSU Most Recently:   Minnesota State stands 12-12-6 overall and is 6-12-4 WCHA after splitting a home league series with Bemidji State (2-1 overtime win, 4-1 loss).

Senior defenseman Channing Boe collected his first career game-winning goal when he scored in overtime in lifting the Mavericks to a 2-1 victory over visiting Bemidji State last Friday. Senior defenseman Ben Youds also scored for MSU in the win and junior netminder Phil Cook had 18 saves to get the decision.  Junior forward Michael Dorr had MSU’s lone tally in Saturday’s 4-1 loss to the Beavers.  The loss came despite MSU’s 41-20 shot advantage in the game.

About Colorado College:  The Tigers, who are coming off of a league split with in-state rival Denver (3-2 win, 5-3 loss), have won four of their last six contests.  CC is are offensively by senior forward Tyler Johnson (16-16--32 in 30 GP), senior forward Steven Schultz (12-17--29 in 28 GP) and sophomore forward Rylan Schwartz (6-22--28 in 29 GP).  Sophomore Joe Howe (13-11-1, 2.91, .904) has started 25 of 30 games in the CC nets.  

Scott Owens (Colorado College) is in his 12th season at the CC?helm and as a college head coach. He’s 274-163-39 (.617) in 476 games with the Tigers, including a 24-13-1 (.645) mark against MSU.
