Box Score Bemidji, Minn.— Andrea Walsh lifted the Mavericks past Bemidji State on a jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining in the game. Minnesota State ends a five-game losing streak Saturday, earning its ninth Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win.
MSU senior Andrea Walsh guided the Mavericks win with eight points and five assists in the first half, ending the game with 21 points and nine assists.
Four Mavericks reached double-digit points in the game to help secure the two-point victory. Freshman Alli Hoefer would score a career-high of 13 points, with Ali Wilkinson matching the 13 points. Wilkinson would earn her twelfth double-double of the season, with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
In the opening moments of the game, freshman Hoefer nailed a three, as the Mavericks controlled the early moments of the first half.
MSU found its biggest lead of eight points, four minutes into the game. The Mavericks would go scoreless the following five minutes and twelve seconds, slowly shrinking its lead.
Bemidji State found its first lead of the game with 2:28 remaining in the first half, as BSU freshman Ellie Wessling dropped a pair of free throws. Wessling lead the Beavers in scoring in the half with ten points, totaling for 16 points on the night. Minnesota State found itself down 41-37 after 20 minutes of play.
Minnesota State shot 39 percent from the floor and 27 percent from beyond the arc in the half. Bemidji State shot 52 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three-point land. BSU won the battle of the boards in the half 18-17 at the midway point of the game.
The Mavericks fought its way back to tie the game at 54 with 10:20 remaining in the game on a Wilkinson lay-up.
MSU jumped back on top of BSU with 5:34 remaining as Jennie Noreen pushed a lay-up in off the glass. Noreen would finish with ten points. A large part of the Mavericks success and in the half was free throws, as Minnesota State went 14-of-19 in the game.
Minnesota State outrebounded Bemidji State 40-36. MSU shot 42 percent and 32 percent from downtown. Bemidji State shot 40 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three-point land.
