Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minnesota State Mavericks were unable to overcome 25 turnovers and a tough night from the foul line as they fell, 62-57 against Augustana College Saturday afternoon.
Both teams got out to a slow start in the first half as Augustana started 1-of-9 from the floor while MSU committed six turnovers in the games first six minutes.
Augie would capture the momentum midway through the first half as it went on a 7-2 run taking an early 13-6 lead.

Aubrey Davis uplifted the Mavericks connecting on seven straight points leading MSU on a 15-2 run as the Mavericks took a 21-15 lead.
The Vikings would tie the score at 23 as they strung together an 8-2 run, before eventually going into halftime with a 29-28 lead.
Neither team could find its rhythm from the field in the first half as MSU shot 32.1 percent on 9-of-28 shooting while Augie shot 32.4 percent on 11-of-34 from the floor. The Mavericks finished the turnover-filled first half with 13 turnovers compared to six by the Vikings.

Jennie Noreen and junior
Jameila Hudnell.
MSU began the first 2:09 of the second half on an 8-0 run as it took a 36-29 lead. Although Augie would cut the lead to one at 38-37, MSU would capture a four-point lead on a three by Noreen at the 14:20 mark.
However, the Vikings would retake the lead at the 12 minute mark when Alex Feeney connected on an and-one to take the 42-41 lead.
Through 34 minutes of action the teams found themselves knotted at 50. After an MSU basket giving it a two-point lead, Augie responded with a pair of free throws and a quick basket off a Maverick turnover taking the 54-52 lead with four minutes remaining.
MSU would cut the lead to a single point with 1:10 remaining but the Vikings were able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game as Emily Schulte blocked a potential tying three-pointer by Noreen.
A key difference in the game was the production from the free-throw line by Augustana. The Vikings connected on 24-of-27 (88.9 FT%) while MSU hit just 12-of-22 (54.6 FT%). The Mavericks finished the night with a 36.5 shooting percentage compared to just 29.5 percent from the field by Augie. MSU also finished with 11 more rebounds than Augustana (47-36) but committed 14 more turnovers (25-11) which led to 13 Viking points.
Noreen led the Mavericks with 19 points and 12 rebounds earning her first double-double of the season. She shot 7-of-9 from the field including 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line. Also finishing in double-digits for the Mavericks was freshman forward
Jamie Bresnahan who finished with 12 points on 4-of-7 from the field.
Noreen’s ten rebounds tied for the game-high while Bresnahan and senior forward
Laura Weber each finished with nine rebounds.
Feeney led the Vikings with 20 points and 10 rebounds including a 10-of-11 performance from the free-throw line as she helped lead the Vikings to a 5-1 overall record and a 2-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record.
Minnesota State (4-2, 0-2 NSIC) is back in action Friday, Dec. 9 when it returns home to face Concordia University. The Mavericks and Golden Bears are scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m., at the Taylor Center.
