Box Score MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State Mavericks were led to their second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory in an 83-67 contest against Upper Iowa Friday night behind a career-high 23 points from senior forward
Laura Weber.
Minnesota State put aside its early-season shooting woes in the first half against the Peacocks, connecting on 18-of-36 (50.0 FG%) from the floor.
Weber was one of two Mavericks with double-digit points in the first half connecting on 7-of-9 from the field for 14 points. She also added eight first-half rebounds to go along with three blocked shots.

Jennie Noreen who made good on 4-of-5 attempts from the floor.
Minnesota State found much success early going down low in the post as Weber scored the night’s first six points in the paint. The Mavericks scored 26 of their 42 first-half points in the paint compared to 16 by the Peacocks.
The Peacocks found their offense in the second half scoring 40 points on 14-of-31 (45.2 FG%) shooting. However, MSU never surrendered its double-digit lead out of the break as it continued its impressive shooting performance, finishing the night 47.8 percent from the field.
Minnesota State’s largest lead came at the 3:52 mark in the second half when it extended its lead to 24.
Weber’s 23 point, 11 rebound performance marks her seventh double-double in her career. She finished 11-of-15 from the field while tying a career-high with three assists.
Noreen filled the stat sheet once again as she finished the night with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
MSU forced 18 Peacock turnovers while they limited themselves to just ten on the night. The Mavericks turned the 18 turnovers into 18 points while the loss drops Upper Iowa to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC.
The Mavericks (6-3, 2-3 NSIC) return to action tomorrow when they face Winona State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., at the Taylor Center.
