Mavericks Host Buckeyes in WCHA Action

Mankato, Minn.---Minnesota State (4-4-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) hosts Ohio State (3-2-1, 3-2-1-1 WCHA) this weekend at All Seasons Arena for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. Friday the puck is set to drop at 7:07 as game two is slated for 3:07 on Saturday.



Maverick and Buckeye History:

- The Mavericks own a 9-39-4 record against the Buckeyes

- Last season each team swept the road series last season against eachother.

- In the last 10 games, MSU is 4-6 against OSU.

- Minnesota State didn’t get its first win over Ohio State until the 19th time the two teams met.

- Three of the four games last season were decided by one goal as well as six of the last nine games.

- Last season Kathleen Rogan had a goal and four assists in the games against the Buckeyes.

- MSU’s Lauren Smith collected two goals and two assists in 2010-11 against OSU

- Ohio State’s Hokey Langan scored four goals in the four games last season.

- OSU’s Laura McIntosh tallied a goal and five assists against MSU a season ago. 

Ohio State Notes:

- The Buckeyes (3-2-1 3-2-1-1 WCHA) dropped two games to North Dakota, 11-1 last Friday and 7-1 last Saturday, at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.

- Senior forward Laura McIntosh scored both Buckeye goals on the weekend. 

- Last Friday, the Waterloo, Ont., product scored in the second period on an assist from freshman Kayla Sullivan.

- McIntosh scored the first goal of the game last Saturday at 5:49 in the first with assists to 

sophomore Ally Tarr and freshman Sara Schmitt. 

- McIntosh’s two points on the weekend moved her to 139 career points with the Buckeyes, which is third on the Ohio State career points list.

She is seven points shy from tying former Buckeye Jeni Creary (2002-05) for second in the program’s record books with 146 career points.

- Sullivan notched the first assist of her career Friday at 2:49 in the second.

- The assist last Saturday was the third of the season for Tarr, while Schmitt’s assist was the first point of her career.

- Goaltender Lisa Steffes started last Friday for Ohio State, saw 40 minutes in the net and finished with 22 saves for the Buckeyes.

- Redshirt sophomore Chelsea Knapp recorded 20 minutes of play last Friday and tallied six saves. - Knapp started Saturday and stopped 27 UND shots.

- The Buckeyes continue their road schedule next week at Minnesota State, taking on the Mavericks Oct. 28-29 in Mankato.

- Ohio State’s Hokey Langan scored four goals in the four games last season.

- OSU’s Laura McIntosh tallied a goal and five assists against MSU a season ago.
