Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State completed day two of the ISU Open in Ames, Iowa with eight top-ten competitors.
Sophomore sprinter Nicholas Nelson (:06.97) finished tenth in the 60-meter dash while freshman Carmono Lane (:07.03) placed 14th in the event.
Senior Adam Endres (:49.74) recorded a seventh-placed mark in the 400-meter dash while senior sprinter Dan Guelle (:50.55) placed 12th in the same event.
Senior distance runner Todd Reed (1:54.63) recorded the top finish for MSU, with a second-place finish in the 800 meter run. Sophomores Nicholas Emmans (2:33.31) and Eric Anenson (2:34.04) recorded sixth and seventh place finishes in the 1000 meter run.
Freshman distance runner Thomas Becker (14:55.44) placed fifth in the 5000 meter run.
The Maverick 4x400 relay team placed fourth with an overall time of 3:19.33. The squad consisted of Sophomore Austin Eliason, and freshman Guelle, Daniel Ejigu, and Endres.
Freshman Keyvan Rudd (2.05m) placed second in the high jump while freshman David Pearcill (13.60m), finished seventh.
MSU sent selected runners and field event participants to compete in the Stout Open as well this weekend. Freshman Charles Steiner (5:4.80) recorded a tenth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Freshman distance runner Kevin Lance (2:01.66) placed seventh in the 800 meter run.
Four Mavericks placed in the top-6 in the pole vault. Juniors Dan Novak (4.70m) and Matt Masloski (4.70m) tied for second in the event. Freshman Bret Passini (4.40m) and senior Nick Yenser (4.40m) placed recorded fifth and sixth respectively for MSU.

The Mavericks will be back in action next weekend as they host the MSU Heptathlon & Open. The competition will start Friday and conclude Saturday.
