Dallas, Texas – Former Minnesota State defensive tackle Junior Aumavae has signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys according to the team’s website.
Aumavae played just one season with the Mavericks and made an immediate impact with the program. The 6-2, 328 pound defensive tackle was a First-Team All-NSIC pick and was also named the NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year. He finished the season with 25 tackles, including a half a sack and a forced fumble. Eleven of Aumavae’s 25 tackles were solo. Aumavae played in 11 games last year earned nine starts and recorded a season-high four tackles against Wayne State, all of which were solo.
Aumavae transferred to Minnesota State from Western Washington, which discontinued its football program following the 2008 season. Aumavae, who was one of 17 undrafted free agents to sign with the Cowboys, reports to minicamp next weekend.
Minnesota State finished the 2010 season with a 10-2 record and hosted the first playoff game in school history.
