Mankato, Minn. —  Minnesota State (19-7, 5-3 NSIC) concludes its 14-game homestand Wednesday when it faces Concordia at 3 and 5 p.m., at the Diamond at Gage Towers.  The Mavericks take to the road this weekend as they travel to Minnesota Duluth (Saturday at Noon & 2 p.m.) and Bemidji State (Sunday at Noon & 2 p.m.).
   
Minnesota State History:  The 2010 season is the 37th for Maverick softball.  MSU owns an all-time record of 932-640-7(.592) in 1,579 games, and won four titles (1984, 1987, 1989, 2007) during their time in the North Central Conference and eight appearances in the NCAA Division II National Tournament (1984, 1987, 1989, 1995, 1997, 2007, 2008 and 2009) to its credit.

Head Coach Lori Meyer:  One of the most respected coaches in all of NCAA Division II softball, Lori Meyer is in her 25th year as the head coach of the Minnesota State softball team.  Meyer owns a career record of 807-539-3 (.599) in 1,349 games.  A seven-time NCC Coach of the Year, Meyer has guided the Mavericks to three North Central Conference titles (1987, 1989 and 2007), and guided the ‘87 Mavericks to a third-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. 

Get to 'em Early:  Minnesota State has scored 139 runs this season, while yielding just 71.  Of those 139 runs, 78.4 percent (109) have came in the first four innings of the game.  The Mavericks have scored 33 first-inning runs this year, while its opponents have crossed the plate just 21 times in the first inning.  The Mavericks have also scored 33 fourth-inning runs this year while it opponents have crossed the plate just 12 time sin the fourth frame.

A Few Random Numbers:  Minnesota State is batting .286 with runners on base, .346 with the bases loaded, .266 with runners in scoring position and .509 with a runner on third and less than two outs.  The Mavericks are hitting .477 to leadoff an inning, and have successfully advanced runners 50.1 percent of the time.  With two outs, MSU is hitting .235, while its opponents are hitting .223.

Last Week: Minnesota State played to a 4-2 record last weekend with sweeps over St. Cloud State and Northern State.  The Mavericks hit .293 for the week and its pitching staff pitched to a 3.68 earned run average.

The Friendly Confines: The Mavericks are 9-3 this season at home.  Senior second baseman Abby Morrisleads the team in hitting at home with a .483 batting average while freshman centerfielder Lauryn Morris is batting .458.  Redshirt freshman Courtney McKelvoguee is 5-1 at home with a 1.81 earned run average.

Inside the League:  In Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, senior second baseman Abby Morris is hitting .524 with three doubles and six runs scored.  She has a .667 slugging percentage in league play and a .600 on base percentage.  Redshirt freshman Courtney McKelvogue is 3-1 in league play with a 2.36 earned run average and has punched out 28 batters.
