Mankato, Minn. --- Former Minnesota State offensive tackle Adrian Battles (2005-09) has signed with the Green Bay Packers practice squad, the Packers announced late last night. Battles, most recently went to training camp with the Minnesota Vikings and was with the squad until the final roster cutdown.
Battles – a four-year starter on the Maverick offensive line – was a First-Team All-NSIC selection in 2009 and was a member of two NCAA Playoff teams during his time with Minnesota State. In 2009, Battles was the lynchpin of a MSU offensive line that saw its offensive unit finish second in school history in points (458) and rushing touchdowns (38), third in total offense, 4,770 and fourth in rushing yards (2,601).
Battles is now one step closer to becoming the first Maverick to play in a National Football League game since Tywan Mitchell who most recently played in a game with the Arizona Cardinals in 2002.
The Green Bay Packers (8-6) host the New York Giants Sunday at 3:15. Minnesota State finished the 2010 with a 6-5 record.
