Box Score Duluth, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s hockey team fell to the fifth-ranked Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (3-1-0, 3-1-0-0 WCHA) Sunday, 6-0.
The Bulldogs came out firing in the first, putting 13 shots on goal compared to MSU’s two in the first seven minutes. Junior netminder Alli Altmann saved those first 13 shots, but the fourteenth snuck past her after a Maverick turnover. Junior center Haley Irvin recorded the unassisted tally at the 7:45 mark.
UMD added to their lead at the 15:05 mark when sophomore forward Gina Dodge stole the puck and put it under Altmann’s glove, putting UMD up 2-0 after the first. Minnesota Duluth out shot MSU, 21-7 in the first.
Minnesota Duluth increased their lead to 6-0 in the second. Senior forward Elin Holmlov tallied a goal at 4:04, sophomore forward Pernilla Winberg scored at 4:17, Holmlov scored her second of the game at 5:54 and forward Katie Wilson tallied a goal at 6:23.
The Mavericks (1-2-1, 0-2-0-0 WCHA) will play host to North Dakota next Friday at 7:07 p.m.
