Lake City, Minn. --- The final round of the NSIC Championships was completed this afternoon at the Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. This was the third and final tournament to decide the NSIC Championships. At the end of the day, Minnesota State came out victorious and was crowned the 2008-2009 NSIC Men’s Golf Team Champions beating Bemidji State in a tiebreaker with 58 points as a combined total from the three events. In this weekend’s play, the Minnesota State Men’s Golf Team finished 4th out of 11 teams. The Mavericks shot a 297-297—594.

Junior Josh Angrimson completed the two day tournament shooting a 74-71—145, a score good enough to tie for 4th place in the tournament. Following behind was junior Jimmy Fromm who carded a 73-76—149 (t-15th). Senior Jon Herzog shot a 75-75—150 (t-18th), which awarded Herzog enough points in the Conference points race for him to receive NSIC All-Conference. Along with Herzog, junior Bryant Black also received the NSIC All-Conference award shooting a 75-77—152 (t-26) keeping him in the top ten in the Conference points race. Rounding out the Mavericks was sophomore Kyle Welch who finished with a 75-75—150 (t-18th) for the weekend.

The MSU men will be in action again on April 20th when they head to Phoenix, Ariz., for head-to –head action.
