Mavericks Finish 15th at Nationals

Houston, Texas - The Minnesota State women’s swimming and diving team finished 15th with 97 points after the final day of the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships. The event, which is held at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium on the campus of the University of Houston, is part of the NCAA Division II Winter Sports Festival.

Drury won the competition with 618.5 points.

Senior Jenna Smith earned All-American honors in the 200-yard breaststroke with a sixth-place finish of 2:18.91. Smith finished seventh in the prelims with a time of 1:52.99.

The 400-yard freestyle relay finished 15th with a time of 3:31.08. The relay squad, which was made up off sophomores Kim Christensen and Kristin Hayes along with freshman Megan Pickert and senior Ashley Baer. The quartet swam to a time of 3:31.29, good for 14th-place in the prelims.

Other Mavericks swimming included: senior Angela Krych (27th, 100-yard freestyle, :52.71), Christensen (28th, 100-yard freestyle, :52.73), freshman Katie Young (38th, 100-yard freestyle, :53.03), Hayes (50th, 100-yard freestyle, :53.84), Pickert (63rd, 100-yard freestyle, :54.19), Baer (33rd, 200-yard backstroke, 2:07.54) and freshman Adrienne Vida (32nd, 200-yard breaststroke, 2:25.34).
