Minnesota State stands 3-4-1 overall and is 1-4-1 in WCHA action after losing (4-3) and tied (4-4) at second-rated Denver last weekend in their most recent action. MSU is idle this weekend before hosting Colorado College Nov. 13-14 in its next action.

MSU's all-time record in 1,336 games played is 697-515-123 (.568).

Minnesota State head coach Troy Jutting (MSU '07) is in his tenth year at the Maverick men's hockey helm and owns an all-time record of 145-166-45 (.471).

Freshman forward Tyler Pitlick scored the first two goals of his MSU career when he scored a pair of power play markers in MSU's 4-4 overtime tie at #2 Denver last Saturday. The youngest player in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (he turned 18 Nov.l), Pitlick has 2-3--5 in seven games played with the Mavericks and is tied for 31st in the nation in rookie scoring.

Sophomore defenseman Joe Schiller scored the first goal of his MSU career when he tallied MSU's first goal in a 4-4 overtime tie with Denver last Saturday. Schiller, who saw action in 18 games as a forward in his debut season with the Mavericks last year and accounted for 0-1--1 during that time, has 1-3--4 in six games as a blueliner this year.

Junior defenseman Ben Youds registered a career-high three assists in the 4-4 overtime at Denver last Saturday. In doing so Youds became the first Maverick to accomplish the feat since Kael Mouillierat had three helpers vs. North Dakota Feb. 14, 2009. Youds is also the first MSU defenseman to do it since Steve Wagner had a trio of assists vs. Wisconsin Feb. 26, 2006. Youds, who lead the Mavericks with five assists on the year, has 1-24--25 in 77 career games.

Senior forward Kael Mouillierat scored his first goal of the year in MSU's 4-4 tie at #2 Denver last Saturday. MSU's active career scoring leader with 37-33--70 in 114 GP, Mouillierat has 1-2--3 in eight games this year.

Senior forward Zach Harrison has extended his consecutive games played streak to 103 games. Rylan Galiardi has seen action in 48 straight contests.

Zach Harrison assisted on Tyler Pitlick's second goal last Saturday vs. Denver and now has 1-4--5 on the year. Junior forward Andrew Sackrison and senior forward Jerad Stewart both have 24 shots on goal, which lead the Mavericks.

Speaking of Andy Sackrison, the St. Louis Park, Minn., junior had 1-1--2 in the 4-3 loss at #2 Denver last Friday. In 75 career games Sackrison has posted 11-21--32

With 3-4--5 in seven games freshman forward Eriah Hayes is tied for 31st in the nation in rookie scoring. The former Waterloo Black Hawk heads has 2-1--3 in the last three games.

Junior forward Rylan Galiardi and freshman forward Eriah Hayes are both +3 for 2009-10 to lead the Mavericks.

Rylan Galiardi stands atop the MSU scoring chart with 3-3--6 in eight games and the Calgary, Alta., native will head into the Colorado College series riding a two-game scoring streak (1-1--2).

MSU freshman goaltender Kevin Murdock, who stands 1-2-1 with a .899 saves percentage and a 3.58 goals against average, had a career-high 40 saves vs. Denver last Saturday.

Of the 27 goals given up by MSU netminders this year, 12 have come on the power play. MSU has also given up one shorthanded goal. MSU has scored seven power play goals and has yet to register a shorthanded tally. In even-strength situations MSU has scored 14 goals and allowed 14 goals.

Former Maverick All-American David Backes (MSU 2003-06) is scheduled to appear on NBC's Today Show Wed., Nov. 4 as part of the 100-day countdown to the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  Backes, who will appear on the show featuring former and future U.S. Olympians, is a candidate for the U.S. men's hockey team and will appear on the 9 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. segment along with former U.S. men's hockey Olympians Bill Cleary, Mike Eruzione, Jim Craig and Steve Janaszak.
