Hamilton Led Minnesota State With Seven Interceptions This Season

Nine Mavericks Honored By Daktronics

St. Paul, Minn. --- Nine Minnesota State football players were named to the Daktronics All-Super Region 3 squad which was announced Tuesday.

The Daktronics All-Super Region 3 squad is voted on by Sports Information Directors within the region.

Senior offensive lineman Andy Schoonover(Boyceville, Wis.), senior return specialist Kelvin Rodgers (East St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore defensive back Jesse Hamilton (Racine, Wis.) were all named to the first-team and now advance to the national ballot.

Schoonover helped anchor a Maverick offensive line that helped the Mavericks total 4,749 yards of total offense (2,601 rushing, 2,148 passing) this past season. Rodgers finished the year returning 29 kicks for 691 yards and a touchdown and also returned 21 punts for 246 yards, while Hamilton was third on the team in tackles (69) and finished the year with seven interceptions, five pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, two blocked kicks and a fumble recovery.

Earning second-team all-region honors are: Redshirt-freshman running back Jake Aberg (Winterset, Iowa), senior offensive lineman Adrian Battles (Milwaukee, Wis.), junior offensive lineman Jeremy Clark (Waukesha, Wis.), senior defensive lineman Junior Aumavae (Palmer, Alaska), senior linebacker Kevin Klug  (Caledonia, Minn.) and Rodgers as a cornerback.
    
Minnesota State finished the 2009 season with a 10-2 record advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the fifth time in school history and the second time in as many seasons.
