Shari Dickerman was named Head Coach of Minnesota State Women's Hockey on Monday, March 11, 2024. The former Maverick netminder served as Acting Head Coach during a portion of the 2023-24 season and has been a member of the Minnesota State women's hockey coaching staff since 2009.
In her short time at Minnesota State, the Mavericks have played to a 31-40-4 record. This past season, the Mavericks finished 17-19-2, establishing a program record for wins. Additionally, Minnesota State advanced to the semifinals of the WCHA Final Faceoff for just the second time in program history after defeating Minnesota Duluth in a best-of-three series in the opening round of the playoffs.
Additionally, this past season freshman Mercury Bischoff was named to the WCHA’s All-Rookie team after posting 29 points on 19 goals and ten assists. Her 19 goals led the team and were the most by a Maverick rookie. Additionally, Bischoff was a finalist for the WCHA’s Rookie of the Year award.
Dickerman has also been a mainstay with the USA Women's National program over the past three years. Since 2023, Dickerman has helped Team USA win an Olympic Gold Medal (2026), two IIHF Senior Women's World Championships (2025, 2023) and an IIHF Senior Women's World silver medal (2024).
In February of 2026, Dickerman served as an assistant coach for the USA Women's National Team which won the Olympic Gold Medal in Milan, Italy, defeating Canada, 2-1 in overtime. The Americans - who went undefeated in the tournament - outscored their opponents 33-2 during the event.
Additionally, she served as an assistant coach for the United States Women's National team in 2023 and 2024 in the Rivalry Series against Team Canada.
In her first season at the helm (2024-25), Dickerman guided the Mavericks to a 14-21-2 overall record (7-19-2 WCHA) with key wins over No. 8 St. Cloud State and No. 2 Ohio State. The Mavericks qualified for the WCHA quarterfinals and won game two 5-4 in double overtime before falling 6-2 in the series finale at Ridder Arena. In April, Dickerman also served as Assistant Coach for the U.S. Women's National Team, which defeated Canada to win gold at the 2025 IIHF Women's World Championships.
Dickerman served as Assistant Coach for six seasons under head coach Eric Means and nine under Harrington, having been promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2023-24.
Dickerman spent one year as an assistant coach with the girls Prep 19U team at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota before making the journey back to Mankato in 2009. She has also been a lead instructor in southern Minnesota for the Goalie Club since 2003 and was an assistant coach for Mankato West High School in 2004-05.
Her collegiate career spanned from 2000-04 and she set both program and WCHA records for career saves and earned Minnesota State's Female Athlete of the Year award in 2003-04. She went on to win the silver medal as a member of the United States National Team at the 2006 Four Nations Cup in Kitchener, Ontario.
Named to the 2004 Jofa Division I All-American Second Team, Dickerman is also a two-time All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association First Team selection. She was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2004 as the top women's college hockey player in the nation.
Dickerman holds a bachelor's degree in physical education (2004) and a master's in exercise science (2008) from Minnesota State.
She is originally from Richmond, Minnesota, and resides in North Mankato with her husband Jon along with their children Tucker, Gigi and Cruz.
